Five criteria. Fixed weights. Published sources.

Most "best Gold IRA companies" lists are ranked by commission size — the reader can't see it, and the reader pays for it. We publish the weights before the rankings, apply hard caps (hidden pricing and unresolved complaints limit a score, whatever the star average says), and stamp every review with the date its facts were checked. When two sources disagree, we print the range instead of rounding it into confidence. That is the whole trick, and it is rarer in this niche than it should be.

Gold IRA questions, answered without a sales pitch

What is the best Gold IRA company right now?
Our current top-rated companies score highest on a weighted blend of fees, customer feedback, transparency, buyback terms and storage options — not on commission size or ad spend. The right pick still depends on your balance: large accounts suit flat-fee structures, while smaller rollovers need dealers with low minimums. See the full ranking for scores and fee tables.
How are these companies rated?
Every company is scored 1–5 on five criteria — fees (25%), customer feedback (25%), transparency and education (20%), buyback and liquidity (15%), products and storage (15%) — with hard caps for hidden pricing and unresolved complaint patterns. The complete rules, and the sources we accept, are on the methodology page.
Do companies pay for better ratings or rankings?
No. We do not sell review placement, scores, or the removal of criticism. The site may earn a commission if you open an account through partner links, but ratings are locked to the published methodology before any commercial relationship exists.
How much do you need to start a Gold IRA?
Dealer minimums in our reviews range from about $5,000 to $50,000, and fees matter more at small balances: budget for setup, annual custodian and storage fees (roughly $100–$300 a year at flat-fee firms) plus the markup over spot on the coins you buy.
Are Gold IRAs a good investment?
They are a narrow tool, not a default. A Gold IRA moves retirement money into physical metal at real cost, which can make sense as a diversifier for savers who already have a core portfolio — and rarely makes sense as a first investment or a reaction to a scary headline. Read the honest pros and cons before comparing any companies.
How current is the information on this site?
Facts were checked October 2026, each review lists its sources and check dates, and fees and ratings are re-verified at least quarterly. Company terms change without notice, so confirm current numbers with the company before you fund anything.
